WHERE INTENT MEETS ACTION!
Cadira Foundation, working at the intersection of Law, Technology & Governance, we worked on a crucial case, in Technology Facilitated Gander based violence (TFGBV), involving a 16 years old minor girl who is a victim of sexual assault in intimate relationship with her partner ( an accused who is 18years old boy) accused in " Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and out in Bail, is threatening the victim to take case back, else he will share her intimate videos on social media sites and Porn site.
A classic case of Revenge Porn, in Technology Facilitated Gender based violence (TFGBV) . Our investigation revealed a failure of police machinery to act diligently and loopholes in the probe and police recorded FIR lightly which enabled the accused to be out on bail, a clear breach of Rule of Law.
We need systematic reform, on Technology facilitated Gender based violence (TFGBV) in legal and police reforms, to create awareness among youths, women in vulnerable communities and accountability of Tech companies.
Cadira Foundation at the United Nations: Championing Justice
Combating Cybercrimes: Our Advocacy for Women and Children's Safety
At the recent "Beijing 30+ Women Justice and Security in a Changing World" event at UNOC, our organization took a strong stand on the escalating threat of cybercrimes against women and children. We highlighted how the digital realm, while offering connection, also presents serious risks, from online harassment and exploitation to human trafficking facilitated through technology.
Our advocacy focused on the urgent need for robust legal protections and comprehensive policies to safeguard these vulnerable groups. We stressed that no single nation can tackle this global challenge alone; international cooperation is paramount to ensure swift prosecution, victim support, and a truly secure online environment for all. We remain committed to championing these vital efforts.
We were privileged to participate in a crucial high-level event United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). During this significant gathering, we had the honor of interviewing Mr. Itay Tavor, Deputy Representative of Israel to the UN.
Our conversation, which you can watch below, delves deep into the complexities of transnational organized crimes, with a particular focus on the escalating threat of cybercrimes. Mr. Tavor provided valuable insights into the multifaceted nature of these digital threats, reinforcing our shared understanding of how they disproportionately impact women and children globally.
The discussion underscored the critical need for robust legal protections rooted in instruments like UNTOC, harmonized policies, and intensified international cooperation to effectively combat these borderless crimes and ensure a safer online environment for everyone. This collaboration is vital as we work towards comprehensive justice and security solutions under the UNTOC mandate.
United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). A key highlight was our discussion with Mr. Itay Tavor, Deputy Representative of Israel to the UN, on combating cybercrimes.
Our advocacy centered on the urgent need for robust legal protections, effective policy measures, and strengthened international cooperation to protect women and children from online exploitation and abuse. This important exchange underscored the collective commitment required to ensure safety and justice in our increasingly digital world, building on the framework provided by UNTOC.
Our Voice at the UN: Tackling Human Trafficking and Cybercrime – Watch the Speech!
We had the profound privilege of addressing the United Nations, representing Cadira Foundation, during the crucial UNTOC discussions. Our speech shed light on the devastating impact of human trafficking, particularly on women and young girls, and the escalating threat posed by cybercrimes in facilitating this modern-day slavery.
In this video, you'll learn about the urgent need for judicial reforms, robust international cooperation, and dedicated funding to dismantle trafficking networks. We also emphasize the critical importance of digital literacy and community awareness in prevention efforts.
Adv. Tanya Jha, at signing ceremony of United Nations Convention on cybercrimes at Hanoi, she emphasized that cyberspace has increasingly became a new tool for technology- facilitated violence, disproportionately affecting women, girls, and children being the Vulnerable population and the NGO work at the intersection of Law, Technology & Governance.
Representing Cadira foundation- an NGO working at the intersection of law, technology and governance, Adv. Tanya Jha called for the establishment of knowledge centers dedicated to cyber awareness and safety. These centers would spearhead community outreach programmes in schools, colleges, and universities to educate youth and vulnerable populations about safe and responsible online interaction.
"Data today is cheaper than water", she remarked, underscoring how the widespread penetration of smartphones and affordable internet has expanded access but also amplified risks. While connectivity is now nearly universal, awareness of digital abuse, exploitation, and privacy threats remains alarmingly low. She further proposed the creation of structured training programmes focused on cyber hygiene, digital safety, and responsible digital citizenship, emphasizing that capacity- building and education are vital to addressing the root cause of online abuse.
